Supportive Learning in an Online Environment
K12-powered learning offers students experiences that include online and in-person support. State-licensed teachers provide personalized instruction in online classes. As students complete their daily coursework accessed through the online school platform, their Learning Coach is available to offer daily one-to-one support. In grades K–5, the Learning Coach offers about 4 to 6 hours of support and helps the student stay on track with their learning schedule and communicates with teachers via email and phone as needed. The K12 program also offers a variety of opportunities for the Learning Coach to receive the information, support, and the training they need to help their student succeed.
Grade 5 Online Curriculum
K12’s engaging online curriculum is enhanced by hands-on education materials† that help meet the needs of a variety of learning styles. Fifth graders in Utah’s K12-powered online school begin a two-year U.S. history survey from the first North Americans to the Civil War and Reconstruction. In language arts, students read classic fiction and nonfiction. They conduct science experiments building a watershed model, testing cell membrane functions, and analyzing the effects of gravity. And they work with decimals, multiply fractions with whole numbers, and explore angles and shapes to build geometry skills. Students also have access to fifth grade art, music, and world language courses.
