How Day-to-Day Online Schooling Works
K12’s online program for first grade in North Carolina begins with the personalized learning plan, which identifies your student’s academic strengths and areas that need more support. For example, if your child excels at math, they may qualify to take courses at a higher grade level but stay at first grade level in other subjects.
Students attend live, online, teacher-led classes with their peers and work on daily coursework through the Online School platform. In grades K–5, the online curriculum includes supplemental hands-on learning. And the Learning Coach—a parent or another responsible adult—offers daily support by helping the student stay on schedule, recording attendance, and communicating with teachers as needed.
